The Founding of Maison Lashin and Who We Are
So, how did Maison Lashin come about? It was back in the winter of 2016, after a small party with friends in Cairo and lots of compliments on jewelry, two of the three Lashin sisters decided to share their love of unique jewelry. The Egyptian-American sisters grew up in the avant-garde creative energy of Northern California, while spending many of their summers in the rich, dynamic vibrancy of Egypt. They bring this varied experience, this intertwining of east and west, this natural blending of new and timeless, to each design of Maison Lashin.
The sisters launched Maison Lashin with the intention to spread joy. We each have a glow that has been gifted to us, and sometimes the right piece will invite that glow back to the fore.
Our Designs
Maison Lashin’s celebrated pieces are made using genuine gemstones and precious metals, such as sterling silver and 18k gold. The products are hand-crafted by artisans in Egypt, led by the integral head Maison Lashin silversmith, Mohamed Khalil, who has been at his craft for over 50 years. The Lines We Offer
At Maison Lashin we currently offer 3 Main Lines:
The Sandal Line: Our signature line. Together with our silversmith, we drew and designed, revised and re-revised this line in order to make jewelry that was not only beautiful, but that was singularly beautiful and deeply meaningful. The Sandal is meant to mirror the design of the Prophet Muhammed’s Sandal, peace and blessings be upon him. We hope that in holding this symbol close, one increases in precious love for him. The Sandal line includes rings, pendants, bracelets and gemstone bracelets. This line makes for a truly meaningful and special gift.
The Remembrance Line: As its name indicates; this line is dedicated to the Remembrance of God. The line is composed of a wide variety of exceptional quality prayer beads. Use these beads and reflect upon the blessings of our Lord. This line is made up of handmade prayer beads which are produced by a family who has been making prayer beads (sibhas/misbahas/tasbeehs) for generations. We have prayer beads made of various woods, some of which are scented such as our Oud and cinnamon lines. We also have prayer beads made of camel bone and various colorful gemstones like amethyst, onyx, lapis lazuli and jade to name just a few. Most of our prayer beads are 100-bead count and come with dividers at 33/34/33. The prayer beads also usually have smaller counter beads at the top for those who want to count to the 100s and the 1000s. We also offer prayer beads that come in 99 beads or 33 beads. The Khan Line:The Khan is our distinctive jewelry line. It contains exquisite handmade silver, silver with 18K gold (2-tone), and 18k gold pieces. Many of these pieces are graced with Arabic calligraphy. This line is made by our master jeweler in the centuries old market, Khan Al Khalili.
